Innumerable famous songs have expressed the feelings our city is able to quiver with passion. Only the harmonious fusion between taste and tradition could have suggested work of arts known and appreciated worldwide. The work of arts of the eternal Torquato Tasso or the unforgettable theme of Torna a Surriento, but also the work of arts of James Joyce, Francis Marion Crawford, Friedrich Nietzsche, Norman Douglas, Lev Tolstoj, Henrik Ibsen and so on, in a list which could continue for many more pages.

However, Sorrento is not only a beautiful memory. It is mainly a lively current time. The simple and tranquil life maintains that atmosphere of charm and daintiness, which made it famous all over the world. The greengrocer and the craft-made shops alternate to the boutiques of famous stylists and artists. The tourists mix with the residents in an embrace, which year after year makes the city more emancipated and cosmopolitan. In this argument regarding generations and culture also strong remains the feeling of appertaining to, which our community expresses in some special occasions: the Feast of the Patron Saint Antonino Abate, the exhibition of the artistic Christmas nativity cribs, or the solemn strut of the Eastern processions of the hooded devotees.

In the new millennium the allure of Sorrento continues to fascinate, charm and daintiness are still its most visible and inalienable secret.
